The Act of Kindness Award differs from other programs

Our Core Points of Difference are:

1. Everyone, no matter what their level of ability, is a potential recipient of The Act of Kindness Award

2. You cannot WIN the Act of Kindness – you can only ‘BE THE ACT OF KINDNESS’

3. The Act of Kindness Award program is not a competition

4. The program is not about sustained behaviour or pre-designated values

5. An Act of Kindness Award is not a REWARD – it is an AWARD

6. There are no WINNERS – Awardees become RECIPIENTS

The Act of Kindness Award program encourages and empowers teaching staff by fostering altruism in students of all ages by focusing on positive behaviour.

2. Conversation

Every teacher is encouraged to share observations of kind and generous behaviour with other staff members at a weekly meeting.

Each week of term staff select one worthy recipient whose kind deed is to be affirmed and acknowledged through the presentation of an Act of Kindness Award.

3. Celebration

Every recipient of an Act of Kindness Award receives:

Where the Act of Kindness Award program operates in schools, successful participation requires the co-operation of three key groups:
